Creating Your Personal Brand

I know I haven’t posted in a while; this is due to different commitments that have taken over my thoughts. When I do get a chance to breathe, I watch a movie in the comfort of my room free from all disturbances and inferences.

Today’s topic is somewhat personal to me. I was thinking about my life like I always do and I realise that although I am extremely grateful for where I am, I am not satisfied it with. I want more. There is so much to life and so much to do. I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur and that dream has recently become stronger. I don’t want to be an employee, manager or director, I want to be the Company.

I WANT TO BE A BRAND!

There’s a huge difference between Corporate Brand and Personal Brand. A corporate brand is a valuable asset that comprises of the vision, core values, image and actions of the corporation. The corporate brands clearly focus on the organisation as a whole where the CEO is responsible for its management.

Personal brand, on the other hand, involves people marketing themselves and their careers as brands. It is a process of creating a recognisable professional name and reputation for yourself or your company/business.

I was watching “Suits season 1 episode 3” where Harvey and Mike try to oust the new CEO of a motor company by replacing him with Dominic Barone, the engineer responsible for the winning engine of McKernon Motors. The problem was that although Dominic was the brains behind McKernon Motors, he wasn’t interested in being the face of the cars he built till Harvey and Mike showed him the importance of being recognised. A lot of entrepreneurs usually focus exclusively on building their business brands while neglecting their personal brand.

To a large extent, we can say that in business, the corporate brand alone sometimes matters. But, this can be a misconception. Depending on your type of business, personal brand might not be as important but we need to understand that the name behind the company is part of the value proposition. An individual’s personal brand is a reflection of his or her skills, abilities and lifestyle. A personal face behind the business helps increases the creative vision embedded in a product/service and the trust people have in your product/service.

In a rapidly growing and increasingly competitive market, creating a personal brand will make you become recognisable once a consistency is established. Personal branding for entrepreneurs involves differentiating yourself from the crowd by identifying and expressing your unique value proposition whether professional or personal. It is your trademark which cannot be duplicated. The Kardashians are a perfect example of people with a personal brand. Most people know them by name first before they know their products. Their personal brands sell their products.

When a client looks at your brand, they want to have a connection that relates to you and your work. The word ‘brand’ does not mean the logo or marketing slogan but rather, it is the repeated experience your clients have with your products/services. This develops an emotional connection between you and your clients. A common mistake people make is to identify their job title as who they are.

It is important you allow your personality to be visible by putting yourself into the world to be recognisable. This can be done by:

  1. Considering how you want to be perceived.
  2. Knowing your passions and what you’re good at doing. You should step back and look at what you want to accomplish in the future.
  3. Have a brand that is marketable. Make sure you do research to know your competition.
  4. Seek professional help. Don’t be shy, there are career coaches out there that can help promote your brand

Creating a personal brand can also be a method of personal discovery so, don’t hold back. I am not giving up on my dreams and I know that someday I’ll give myself a pat on the back for a job well-done. While developing and promoting your business, always remember that the person behind such a great business is worth knowing.

That’s really so important to create personal branding, people relate themselves to the person after the brand! You gave the perfect example of Kardarshin family!

This is great to keep in mind. While I do try to focus on my brand, I mostly just want to write what I want. If it’s not what people think my brand is, oh well. I’ve always felt weird to be thought of as a brand, honestly. I’m just me!

I loved your advice about seeking professional help. I think sometimes we feel like we SHOULD be able to do it all on our own, but it can save you so much time and effort if you enlist a professional sometimes.

You really make it appear really easy along with your presentation but I to find this topic to be actually one thing that I feel I’d by no means understand. It kind of feels too complex and very broad for me. I’m looking ahead in your subsequent submit, I?¦ll attempt to get the dangle of it!

I loved even more than you will get done right here. The overall look is nice, and the writing is stylish, but there’s something off about the way you write that makes me think that you should be careful what you say next. I will definitely be back again and again if you protect this hike.
